| | Moby Dick | ] | I had the weirdest dream last night. It was one of those really long and super detailed dreams that in any other reality makes no sense whatsoever, but because it's a dream it, for some reason, makes perfect sense. Till you wake up, of course. Really, really strange. Work is going well so far. My new store rocks. My new manager is awsome.
Ugh. Looked thru The Stranger last night to see what shows are comming thru town. Dear god. There goes my paycheck... and the next one. Sooo many great shows. And I saw Snow Patrol is comming thru with Eisley. I'm excited about that. I haven't seen Eisley since before the dropped the "Moss" and before everyone knew who they were... back on the stage at Mars Music with me being MC for 'Women's night in rock' or some shit like that. Ahh, good memories. Rock Against Bush tour this Sunday! Strike Anywhere!!!! woo! It sucks that the AKAs join that tour a week after they play here, I'd love to see those boys again.
I love downtown Seattle. There is always something cool going on down there. Walked around down there the other night and there was some neat Native American festival out on one of the peirs.
John Bonham is a bad ass... gee, have I ever mentioned that before? ;) |

Washington is treating me well thus far. We have this great place down the street called Taco Del Mar... which is basically like Chipotle only 10 times better. How can anything be better than Chipotle, you ask? Go eat at Taco Del Mar. I'm addicted to it already. People here are familiar with the term 'vegan' and it seems everywhere has vegan food on their menu. I was at this Chinese place the other day and asked the lady at the counter if their rice had eggs in it, and she immediately responded with "oh, are you vegan?" I just stood there dumbfounded for a second. No one in Dallas would ever think to ask that. The new store is pretty cool, I'm getting used to working drive thru a little better. The people I work with all seem pretty cool, but I can't say I've gotten to know many of them too well yet. My cats love the balcony. I swear Coda is going to fall off the railing one of these days.
And now its time for meet the neighbors... One of our neighbors is a really cool old guy who is a big Kerry campaigner. He gave us some Washington voter registration forms. He seems to be highly envolved with local politics, and loves to talk about politics. Very cool guy. And then there is the pyscho crazy lady next door. She frightens us and we hide from her at all costs. We met her the day we were moving in and she introduces herself as follows: "Oh, I live next door. We just moved in... well, I say we, he died. But yea, we just moved in within a couple days of you." Not an ounce of sadness or hint of emotion in the statement. Just and extremely casual, everyday kind of tone. If that statement and the tone of her voice weren't freaky enough, anyone I have ever seen go into her apartment, I never see come out. That lady scares me. I have yet to talk to guitarist dude, I haven't heard him play in a couple nights. I've been too sucked into my book. Oh well.
Anyways, time for me to go read a bit. End post. |

| | coffee shop music | ] | Well, I made it! After 51 hours of cats crawling on me, bad radio stations, and lots of political talk radio covering the republican convention (which was more entertainment value than anything) we finally made it to the lovely city of Seattle. Our apartment is the coolest place ever! We have a front porch looking straight into a forest and a back patio looking over a sea of evergreens. It is so georgous, I'll have to post pictures soon. Unpacking is kind of fun and kinda sucky. I never knew we had so much crap. But our living room has this whole pirate theme to it, and I am loving that! Hopefully we'll get our internet connection at home set up soon... I think they said within a week. Until then I am forced to come to this lovely coffee shop in downtown Seattle that has computers with internet acess... such a rough life I have. I love it here. I don't think it has quite sunk in that I'm not going back to Dallas yet. My brain just thinks it's on vacation or something. Oh! I have a new mission in life. There is some dude that lives a couple apartments down from us that plays guitar every night, and he's actually quite good. I have yet to track this nice fellow down and meet him yet. But never you fear, he will be my new friend soon. There is so much to do here it is rediculous. I don't even know where to start. Its awsome living in a city where there is actually stuff to do!
But I hate those posts that are 500 pages long, so I'll end this rambling now. |

I will obviously be offline for a few days while in transit to Seattle, but hopefully I'll be hooked back up fairly quickly. This time with DSL, I'm done with the slow ass dial-up. Adios Texas, hello nice weather. |

Of all The Smiths/Morrissey songs they could have picked to play, they pick that one. I can die happy now... haha. I've never had my jaw drop to the floor like that. Seeing them play that song alone was worth the drive down there. That and I got to hear the 'brand new song' which is amazing as well. Those girls better make it up to Seattle sometime soon. Jen gave me a tshirt and a bunch of buttons when we left which I'm still excited over. 'Good times for a change' indeed. |

| | Christian, Christian - theSTART | ] | Really, I swear to god I'm never really the emotional type, but fuck it, I think I have the right to be for at least a few days. I've hooked back up with so many old friends lately and now I have to move. Part of me doesn't want to leave. I hung out with quite a few people today saying out farewells and such. That seems to be the theme of late. And I hate it. I can't wait to get to Seattle, don't get me wrong, but oddly enough there are a few things I will miss here. More so certain people than anything. It really sucks that I discovered today that Summer is looking for another band since Somatra pretty much is no more, and I would love to have the chance to work with her again. So much for that. Moving sucks... or more acurately moving 2000+ miles away sucks. I know I'll love it once I get to Seattle and look at this post and think 'wow, that was dumb'. Its just been a very polar oppisite kind of week. I feel like such a chick. But, its time to focus on the positive... I get to go live in one of the coolest cities in this country where I'm sure there are pleanty of talented musicians to hook up with. I'll be sane weekend driving distance from LA, and when I drive places I'll actually have more than cows and boarded up gas stations to look at! (well, except for whenever I drive to Kansas, but its amazing what a little willpower can do).
random funny dialouge from tonite between me and Josh (my old drum manager): Me: "Thanks for being the best bad manager I ever had." Josh: "Thanks for being the best worst employee I ever had." |

Angela- you should go to the Austin show!
In other news, I leave for NC tomorrow. Should be fun... I hope. I haven't seen my dad in a long time and I want him to put some bass lines to a few songs I've written. And of course, there is the Lennon show to go see. Can't wait. The craziness has begun. See you kids in a few days.

| | I'm fine, my toe isn't | ] | So here is a story about how two hours ago I practically sliced off one of my big toes. Tim and I went to the laundrymat down the street since we just sold our washer and dryer. I went outside for a second and as I was comming back in one of the double doors was nearly closed and the other was being opened by another customer. Stuck in between the doors is my toe which gets sliced open and the nail is almost completely detached... blood all over the place. Fun times indeed, eh? At least now I know what underneath my toenail looks like. Oh, and have I mention my toe hurts like hell? This should make for an interesting day at work tomorrow, and an interesting trip to NC. So continuing the story, the poor lady that works there (who barely spoke english) saw me stumble in the door holding my foot. She comes over and sees it and runs to get me a bandaid. She comes back and says "This my first day here". Boy did I feel bad. So there is my evening in a nutshell.
Poor toe. My toe is now wrapped up so much it looks like a little mummy toe. |

Curiosa yesterday... oh yes. Head Automatica is fucking bad ass. Auf Der Maur, Interpol, and of course The Cure were amazing. Its funny how in the right light Robert Smith looks like a mad scientist. The band that replaced Muse I didn't find all too great... pretty much everything was pre-programed into a beat box and every once in a while they'd actually play a few notes on their guitars. I think I have to say out of all the shows I have been to The Cure is the only band I have ever seen that has done TWO encores. |

| | Deep Purple | ] | 1. What was the first concert you ever attended? How old were you? Where was it?
I've been going to concerts since I was a wee child. I couldnt even begin to try to figure that one out.
2. What was the most recent concert you attended? Where and when?
Tusnami Bomb at Graceland in Seattle... have I mentioned I love Seattle?
3. Have you ever seen your favorite artist/band in concert? Did the show live up to your expectations or were you disappointed?
ooh, time for a Garbage story. So I had this running thing back in the day when Garbage was still touring and before they fell off the face of the planet (but I'm not bitter or anything that the new album isn't out yet... haha) that every show I went to had to be better than the last. I saw them when Abandoned Pools opened up for them and brought a sign that durring a short break Shirley grabbed from me and held it up, stuck it on the drum riser for the rest of the show and talked to me for a couple minutes. Now if that doesn't rock already, it gets better. Went to go see them on the Distillers/No Doubt tour and out of pure luck got randomly selected to go backstage and meet the band. I got a kiss from miss Shirley and talked with Butch Vig about production stuff. That definately surpassed any expectations I ever had.
4. Ever been to a concert where you were pleasantly surprised at the performance? Ever been to a concert where you were totally disappointed? Name 'em!
For pleasantly suprised I'll have to go with The Offspring. I haven't listened to them in a looong time, but on the recent tour I discovered they are actually very good musicians. And cool people, too.
Disappointed... A Perfect Circle takes the cake on this one. The most boring show I have ever seen. I literally almost fell asleep.
5. Name five bands that would headline your own personal festival. (Along the lines of Oz Fest or Lollapalooza)

theSTART Garbage Detachment Kit Deep Purple Led Zeppelin (assuming that all the members got along and they could get Jason Bonham to play drums) |
